The Perc Test

We decided we had better do a perc test on the land before buying it so we can make sure it will take a septic tank.

So little red flags are now sprinkled all over the property, and there are several big scars in the ground. Apparently, Lonoke County now requires that you identify and maintain a backup location for the field lines just in case something goes wrong with the first location. This means that the health department has pretty much established the use of almost the entire acre. They are also requiring that we take down a whole bunch of the trees. They even told us where we had to put the trailer. It all seems a little ridiculous to me, but we're going to go along with them. They also want us to buy some fancy-schmancy new kind of septic tank that has what sounds like a water capacitor in it.
